About

Lake Mokoba Tented Camp is set along the perennial Gomoti River in the southern region of the Okavango Delta, overlooking a tranquil lake teeming with hippos and crocodiles. The camp takes its name from the Mokoba, the local term for the Knobthorn tree, a resilient acacia species that flourishes in this part of Botswana. The area is known for its abundant wildlife and year-round safari experiences. Guests can enjoy bush walks, mokoro excursions, and boat cruises along the river throughout the year.

Travelling with Children

Children under 12 years pay 50% of the adult sharing rate when sharing with 2 adults, up to a maximum of 2 children, and only in the Family River Tent, subject to availability.

Activities

Boat cruises along the perennial Gomoti River bring close encounters with hippos, crocodiles and birdlife (water levels permitting). Mokoro excursions glide guests through the winding channels for an intimate view of the Delta. Guided walking safaris let guests explore the bush on foot with an experienced guide. A 20-minute scenic helicopter flight departs directly from the camp's own helipad.

Guide tents are separate from guest accommodation

The fact sheet's Quick Facts list mentions 2 Guide Tents in addition to the 8 River Tents and 2 Family River Villas. The Fact File's guest bed count (24 beds) only covers the River Tents and Family River Villas — the Guide Tents are for accompanying guides/staff and are not part of bookable guest inventory.

Camp is off the grid

The camp is described in the supplier fact sheet as "Off the Grid." Each tent has electrical outlets and a stand-up fan, but the fact sheet does not state the power source (e.g. solar, generator).

Road and helicopter transfers

Road transfer is approx. 1 hour 30 minutes from Maun. Road and helicopter transfers can also be arranged on request at an extra cost, and a 20-minute scenic helicopter flight using the camp's own helipad is available. The camp has a helipad on site.
